The marks are ready.
The blank result cards are stacked on your desk.
And you pick up a pen.
Card 1.
Card 2.
Card 3.
By card 15, my hand was cramping.
By card 30, I was making mistakes — wrong marks in wrong columns, crossing things out, starting over on a fresh card.
By card 50, I stopped and did the math.
98 students. How many more hours is this going to take?
Too many.
Why I Tried Excel First
I've always believed that most painful processes don't persist because nobody noticed them.
They persist because the people who could fix them weren't the ones suffering from them.
I was suffering from this one. So I went to work.
Like any developer who hits a manual process, I went straight to automation.
I built a result card generator in Excel.
It actually worked. Formulas everywhere. Grades calculating automatically. Totals linking up.
I set it up for a school and teachers were amazed — what used to take two days of handwriting was done in an afternoon.
But Excel had one fatal flaw.
It was fragile.
The moment someone who didn't understand the formulas touched a cell — everything broke. Columns shifted. References pointed to the wrong places.
I'd get a call.
"The grades are wrong."
And I'd have to go in and fix it manually. Every. Single. Time.
Scaling was even worse. One school was manageable. Ten schools meant ten separate files, each with their own quirks, their own broken formulas, their own disasters waiting to happen.
The Real Problem
There's a pattern I keep seeing in how humans solve problems.
We take whatever tool is closest — the one we already know — and we stretch it until it breaks. Then we blame ourselves for not using it correctly.
Excel didn't fail teachers. Teachers were failed by the absence of something built specifically for them.
The problem wasn't the handwriting.
There's a name for this in design: a UX gap. The distance between what a user actually needs to do — and what the tool forces them to do instead. The bigger that gap, the more time, energy, and mistakes fill the space in between.
For teachers doing result cards, that gap was enormous.
Teachers needed something that:
- Worked on a phone (most teachers don't have laptops)
- Didn't require formula knowledge
- Could handle bulk exports for an entire class
- Generated print-ready PDFs with one click
A scalpel and a kitchen knife can both cut. But you wouldn't want a surgeon operating on you with the wrong one.

No training manuals. No formula knowledge. No IT department required.
Import your data, add your school logo and signatures, click export. Every student's result card — print-ready PDF, done.
I tested it on a real school first. Teachers picked it up without any instructions. Works on a phone.
I think a lot about why certain problems go unsolved for so long.
Usually it's not a lack of intelligence or effort. It's a lack of someone who was close enough to the problem to feel how wrong the current solution was.

I was close enough.
Those 98 result cards were not just a frustrating afternoon.
They were a signal.
Something was missing — not just for me, but for thousands of teachers going through the same thing every semester, silently accepting it as normal.
I started in Pakistan. But the problem turned out to be everywhere.
Maybe you're one of them.
Maybe you're still writing cards by hand.
Maybe you're using an Excel sheet that breaks every time someone touches it.
The right tool changes more than just the time it takes. It changes what you do with the time it gives back.
